Swimmers ranked in national top 25

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Five University of Arkansas swimmers and two Razorback relay teams are ranked among the national swimming leaders almost a month into the season.

Senior Yi-Ting Siow is currently ranked in the top 25 in four events. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Siow stands first in the nation with her time of 1 minute, 1.63 seconds. Siow is also fourth in the 200y breaststroke, touching in at 2:13.93 in the Hogs double-dual meet against Florida and Kansas on Saturday. Along with Siow, senior Leah Pierce is currently ranked in the top 25 in the 200y breaststroke with a time of 2:17.28.

Siow also holds the top time in the 200y individual medley with a time of 2:00.06 and is in the top 15 among the 400y IM times with a 4:21.63.

Returning All-America Jamie Marks ranks in the top-25 in both the 1,650y freestyle and the 200y butterfly events. Mark’s time of 16:43.98 is the fifth-fastest time in the nation in the mile event while her time of 2:02.04 is the 17th-fastest time in the 200y butterfly.

Sophomore Alison Templin and junior Shara Sutphen join Marks in the 1,650y freestyle rankings at No. 16, 17:10.50, and No. 19, 17:18.69, respectively.

The Razorback 200y medley relay’s time of 1:43.35 places it in the top 15. Relay members include Siow, LynetteNg,Lisa Lunkenheimer and Katie Whitbeck. The 400y medley relay team, comprised of the same quartet as the 200y medley team, ranks sixth in the nation with a time of 3:47.24.
