FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas swimming and diving team will take to the pool in its first public event this season Friday at 3 p.m. during their intra-squad meet inside the Arkansas Natatorium.
Senior captains Aubrey Golbek and Lizzy Whitbeck chose the two teams competing in the intra-squad meet, which will feature only swimming events.
The intra-squad meet is one of four events hosted by Razorback swimming and diving. Their first home dual meet will take place Oct. 26 at 11 a.m. against Nebraska. The Razorbacks will face Rice and Clemson at noon on Jan. 25, and return the following week on Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. to face Vanderbilt and Kansas on Senior Day.
The Razorbacks are coming off a successful 2012-13 season when the team went 10-1 in dual meets, finished sixth at the SEC Championships and placed 26th at the NCAA Championships. At the 2013 NCAA Championships, Arkansas also saw two sophomores, Lauren Jordan and Nikki Daniels, become the 35th and 36th Razorbacks to earn All-American honors in program history. Over the course of the season, the team broke 11 all-time records, including every relay record.
The intra-squad meet will take place at the Arkansas Natatorium at the Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) building. Parking is available to fans by purchasing a One-Day Visitor Pass from UA Transit and Parking and parking in lots as authorized by the pass or by parking in a metered visitor parking space. Doors will open at 2:15 p.m. and entry is free.
