Day 3

Happy New Year’s Eve!

Our third day in Delray Beach was our best one yet! We started the day with a dryland session followed by swim practice. As we finished up practice, the coaches stopped us to announce we had a challenge before we could leave. We had to choose a song and then divide up into our teams to sing and dance to it. If we were loud enough, afternoon practice would be canceled! Naturally, we gave it our all! I have to say, we have some talented dancers on our team (*cough *cough Anna Williams!) The Camo Toads won the dance-off challenge, and the coaches agreed we deserved the night off.

The rest of the day was spent at the beach, where most of us tanned, walked along the shore and frolicked in the ocean. While most of us got some color, a few poor girls are now red as lobsters. After beach time, we all gathered in the lobby for another team challenge: a scavenger hunt! We were given a list of items to photograph with our phones, each with a different set of rules and point value. The list consisted of photographing various items around town, such as getting a stranger to call the Hogs with us. The Camo Toads were victorious again in this challenge.

Hours later, we loaded up and traveled to California Pizza Kitchen for a team dinner. We all splurged and got fruity drinks and crazy-big pizzas. It was a fun time, and we all crammed in as many photos as possible on our last day of the year together as a team.

When we arrived back at the hotel, the girls traveled in groups to the downtown area, which had been closed off to cars for the special occasion. Hundreds of people crowded the streets, and live music played on every corner. The girls and I gathered in front of a live DJ and danced for hours! We started a dance train, and got people of all ages to join in with us. We were all exhausted, but were having too much fun to stop. We returned to the hotel just in time to watch the ball drop on TV. It was one of the best nights I have ever had, and it was a perfect way to bring in the new year surrounded by my closest friends!
