Tarnasky loses as rain soaks tournament

Lafayette, LA. – The first day of the Ragin’ Cajuns Invitational saw a lot of rain and very little tennis. Sophomore Tyler Tarnasky lost to Stepan Siska of Southeastern Louisiana and the Razorbacks’ doubles match featuring Tarnasky and Dmitry Lebedev was postponed due to inclement weather.Tarnasky, playing in his first match of the 2008-09 season, fell to Siska in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2 in one of the few matches completed Friday. Head coach Robert Cox was optimistic about the rest of the weekend for Tarnasky who finished last season with an overall record of 11-12.“Tyler didn’t play his best,” said Cox. “Hopefully as the weekend goes on, he’ll play better.”Barring anymore rain, the Razorbacks will return to action Saturday when Dmitry Lebedev takes on LSU’s John Tragardh while teammate Matt Walters will take to the court against ULL. In doubles, Lebedev and Tarnasky will play Memphis’ Leon Nasemann and Charlie Ramsey during day two of the tournament. First serve is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Log on to ArkansasRazorbacks.com for complete results.Friday results:
