Tennis Hogs Fall to No. 10 Florida, 5-2

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In their first match outdoors of the spring, the No. 37-ranked University of Arkansas tennis squad fell to No. 10-ranked Florida, 5-2, at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Fla., on Wednesday. The Razorbacks fall to 9-3 on the season and 1-3 in Southeastern Conference play.
The Hogs fell behind early, 1-0, when the Gators took two of the three doubles matches. Arkansas’ Oggie Kolev and Aleksey Bubis claimed the one victory for the Razorbacks at No. 3 beating UF’s Ross Greenstein and Troy Hahn. UA’s Oskar Johansson and Henrik Tofft fell to Nathan Overholser and Jeremy Wurtzman at No. 1, 8-4, while Magnus Kullenberg and Eduardo Pacheco lost 8-6 to Olivier Levant and Matt Behrmann.
UA’s Aleksey Bubis tied the score at 1-1 with a win at No. 5 over Ross Greenstein, 6-3, 6-1. The Gators then retook the lead 3-1 claiming wins at No. 2 and No. 3. At No.2, Henrik Tofft lost to No. 77-ranked Jeremy Wurtzman and Magnus Kullenberg fell to No. 46-ranked Olivier Levant.
Oggie Kolev narrowed the gap to 3-2 with his 6-1, 2-6, 6-2, win over Troy Hahn at No. 4, but the Gators went on to win the match when UF’s Matt Behrmann defeated Eduardo Pacheco at No. 6, 6-4, 7-6 (2).
No. 1 Oskar Johansson battled No. 21 Nathan Overholser at No. 1 and eventually lost in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.
The Razorbacks return home on Monday, March 5, at 5:30 p.m. to play No. 17 Oklahoma State. Admission is free.
