Tennis to Missouri for mock dual matches

FAYETTEVILLE – After a successful pair of tournaments last weekend, the University of Arkansas women’s tennis team takes the show on the road again, Sept. 23-25, to Columbia, Mo. for the Missouri Collegiate Classic. Along with the Lady Razorbacks, the weekend tournament features the Big 12’s Missouri, Kansas State and Iowa State. The tournament is unflighted, but the teams face off against a different team each day to give the tournament a dual match feel. “It should be a good weekend against some regional competition,” said head coach Michael Hegarty. “It is still very early for us, and we are still learning about our own team.” Last weekend at the William and Mary Classic and the Lady Rebel Invitational, the Lady’Backs went 21-6 in singles and 8-4 in doubles. Freshmen Aurelija Miseviciute and Ela Kaluder remain undefeated in their young college tennis careers as both won their respective flights at the William and Mary Classic. Miseviciute and senior Vlatka Jovanovic may switch off on court one. This weekend is Jovanovic’s first fall tournaments of the season. The Zagreb, Croatia native, Jovanovic traveled to the William and Mary Classic last weekend, but did not play. Play begins Friday at 10:00 a.m. against Missouri.
