In honor of practice starting…
Enjoy this poem:
‘Twas the Night Before Practice
‘Twas the night before practice, and all about town
Construction was abundant, many students weren’t around
Tents appeared on the practice fields with care
In hopes that student-athletes soon would be there
Tusk was all nestled, snug in his pen
While visions of turf, he dreamt of again
And Fayetteville, dormant from summer’s long break
Faced August when dorms and halls would soon wake
When all of a supen reporting day arrived
With the promise of a football season soon revived
Into new facilities student-athletes and staff poured
Did you catch the time when Razorvision toured?
Reynolds Razorback Stadium was soon to turn seventy-five,
Counting down the days ’til the stands would come alive
There have been many a memory wonderful and great
Can you believe the first game was in 1938?
Head coach Bret Bielema was prepared to go
Taking each and every step one-and-oh
He assembled a crew of talented staff
A combined 153 players were drafted on their behalf
Football wasn’t the only team reporting back,
It was time for Razorback soccer to prep for attack
August 6th, their reporting day
Their first exhibition is only 10 days away
The volleyball team was soon to enter preparation
Seven new Razorbacks were welcomed to the rotation
I’ve heard they’re first in the SEC and sixteenth in the nation
They’re ready to make Barnhill a hostile location
Swimming and diving was also poised to begin
Seeking an encore to their 26th-place NCAA win
Construction was renovating the HPER pool
There were many broken records last season at this school
‘Twas the night before practice, a new season is near
Anticipation is thick for this coming year
Athletes and fans clad in cardinal and white
Excitedly awaiting the contests to take place (almost) every night
As the student-athletes assumed position on the field
It became apparent that this season they would #NeverYield
Among turf green, pools blue and fields dewey,
"It’s back-to-school season, woo pig sooie!"
