Three Takeaways From Opening Day Of Practice
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Monday marked the beginning of official practice for the Arkansas men’s basketball program and the team took full advantage with a 6 a.m. session, followed by a high-intensity afternoon practice in the Performance Center.
With plenty of storylines entering the season, here are three takeaways from the opening day of practice.
All The Conditioning Has Paid Off
During the last five weeks, 6 a.m. conditioning has turned into a habit and the fitness level of all 13 players is at an all-time high. While the Spain trip was all about playing together for the first time, Coach Anderson is finally able to put all this new speed and athleticism to the test.
Quality Depth
We all know the kind of depth it takes for the #Fastest40 to click on all cylinders and this coaching staff will have its options at every position. Coach Anderson has made it clear he loves his big, physical guards, and with SEC Preseason Player of the Year candidate Moses Kingsley returning for his senior year, it’s no surprise ESPN’s Sean Farnham has Arkansas as a sleeper to compete for a conference title.
Senior Leadership
While all the newcomers have fit right in, the senior leadership of Manuale Watkins, Moses Kingsley and Dusty Hannahs will be crucial to this team. The trio has combined to play 256 collegiate games and those minutes are invaluable. Hannahs is scheduled to graduate in December, while Watkins and Kingsley are on track receive their degrees in the spring.
