Tied for 3rd Arkansas advances to match play

TOLEDO, Ohio-The University of Arkansas men’s golf team raced up the leader board on the final day of stroke play at the NCAA Division I Men’s Championship at the Inverness Club, moving from sixth place to a tie at third. The Razorbacks ended in three-way tie for third place with Southern California and Washington after carding 13-over 865(297-283-285). They will advance to Friday’s Match Play Championship along with Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Southern California, Washington, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Georgia.Due to rain delays during the second round only 15 of the 30 teams were able to finish before dusk of Wednesday, leaving the remainder of the second round to be played early on Thursday morning prior to the start of the final 18 holes. Top seed Oklahoma State managed to pull farther away from the field on Thursday, taking first place with a 3-under 849(288-280-281). No. 13th ranked Arizona State slid into the second spot with a 10-over 862(294-281-287). Southern California bettered their position significantly, shooting the lowest team score of the day with a 5-under 279. The Trojans are now in a three-way tie with Washington and Arkansas after carding a 13-over 865(305-281-279). Washington has a three round 865(293-286-286).Also appearing in the Top 8 were Michigan in sixth place with a 16-over 868(296-285-287), Texas A&M and the No. 1 ranked Georgia tied at seventh at 17-over 869 (298-276-295) and (288-285-287), respectively. These teams will advance into Friday’s round of match play.North Carolina State’s Matt Hill took the top of the player leader board with a 6-under 207(69-69-69). Another individual, Clemson’s Kyle Stanley stepped into second place after shooting 5-under in the final round to end with a 4-under 209(-72-71-66).David Lingmerth tied for 23rd place with a 3-over 216(75-72-69). Ethan Tracy carded a 4-over 217(76-68-73) to end in a tie for 27th. Andrew Landry tied at 37th with a 6-over 219(75-70-74). Jamie Marshall followed by a stroke for a 7-over 220(71-78-71) and tied for 48th. Jason Cuthbertson ended tied at 62nd with a 9-over 222(77-73-72).Arkansas will begin teeing off at 7:45 on Friday morning with Jamie Marshall. Live scoring with be available at Golfstat.com.
