Top-20 Matchup, Bark in the Park vs Alabama

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 19 University of Arkansas softball team hosts 15th-ranked Alabama this weekend at Bogle Park to begin the second half of SEC play. First pitch of Friday’s opener is scheduled for 6 p.m. Admission is free with gates opening one hour prior to start time. The Razorbacks will also host their annual Bark in the Park during all three games.

All-Time Series vs Alabama
Six of Arkansas’ eight wins in the series with Alabama have come in Fayetteville. The program is looking for its first win against the Crimson Tide since the 2012 season. This will be the first meeting with both teams ranked in the top 20.

Last Time Out
The Razorbacks swept a doubleheader at Saint Louis (April 10) behind a pair of complete-game shutouts by Mary Haff and Autumn Storms. Tori Cooper was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in game one while Hannah McEwen tallied three hits with two home runs in game two.

McEwen Joins Short List
With five runs driven in during Tuesday’s DH at Saint Louis, freshman Hannah McEwen is the eighth player in program history to reach 40 RBI in a single season. She ranks fifth in the SEC with a team-leading 41 RBI.

One-Hit Wonder
Freshman Mary Haff posted her fifth and sixth one-hitters of the season with wins at No. 12 South Carolina and Saint Louis last weekend. Against the Billikens, she established a career high with 13 strikeouts. Haff ranks second in the SEC and 14th in the NCAA with 172 strikeouts.

One Through Nine
Arkansas is second in the SEC and tied for 11th nationally with 44 home runs. With Hannah McEwen’s two-HR outing at Saint Louis, the team has now hit a home run from each spot in the lineup.

Rankings Watch
Arkansas is up a spot to No. 19 and 20 in the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN/USA Softball polls, respectively. At No. 19, the Razorbacks are at a program-high ranking. In the most recent RPI release, Arkansas checks in at No. 21.

A Look at the Stat Sheet
The Razorbacks carry top-50 national marks in strikeout to walk ratio (third/6.20), total home runs (T11/44), ERA (18/1.80), slugging percentage (21/0.484) and scoring (45/5.51 runs per game).
