Total Team Effort Gives Arkansas SEC Outdoor C
BY ANDRES FOCIL
OXFORD, Miss. – It was a complete 100 percent team effort as Arkansas returned to the top of the award stand in a big way late Sunday night when it captured the 2004 Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship with 183 points. Florida was in a distant second with 120 and Georgia was third (115). Tennessee (108) and LSU (93) rounded out the top five.
It marked UA’s 11th SEC outdoor crown and its 20th outdoor conference title in 23 years. The 63-point margin of victory was the Razorbacks’ largest since 1997 when they racked up 188 over Florida’s 115 at Auburn, Ala. Arkansas’ high point total was made possible with the performances of senior Alistair Cragg who tallied 30 points on his own to win the Commissioner’s Trophy.
