Track Hogs Set for U.S. Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. – Arkansas track and field will see five of its current student athletes and six of its former student athletes take to the track for the U.S. Olympic Trials at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field over the next several days. Competition begins Friday, June 27 and ends Sunday, July 6.

Nkosinza Balumbu (triple jump), Alex McClary (800 meters), Andy McClary (1,500 meters), J-Mee Samuels (100 and 200 meters) and James Strang (5,000 and 10,000 meters) are the current Hogs scheduled to compete.

Strang will be the first Hog to compete in Friday night’s 5,000 meter prelims. Alex McClary is still on the bubble for the 800-meter quarterfinals that will also take place Thursday night.

Former Hogs that will be competing include Said Ahmed (1,500 meters), Eric Brown (javelin), Tyson Gay (100 and 200 meters), James Hatch (800 meters), Wallace Spearmon (100 and 200 meters) and Seth Summerside (10,000 meters).
