Trio Of W. Golfers Take Part At U.S. Women's Am

PORTLAND, Ore. – Three University of Arkansas women’s golfers opened play at the Portland Country Club in first round play at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Monday.

Redshirt freshman Shawn Rennegarbe paced the Razorback players and is tied for 31st overall with an opening round one-over 73.

Rennegarbe was even on the front nine and bounced back-and-forth on the back nine.  She finished strong with three pars on 15, 16 and 17 and added a birdie on the 18th hole.  She tees off at 3:50 p.m. central in the second round.

Junior Summar Roachell and senior Gabriela Lopez are tied for 50th overall shooting two-over 74.  Lopez turned one over and added three bogeys and two birdies on the second nine.  She is scheduled for a 10:20 a.m. start on Tuesday.

Roachell was also two-over for the day.  She turned two over on the front nine and played the second nine even.  She will tee off at 3:15 p.m. in round two.
