FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Troy State nailed 12 three-point baskets and battled Arkansas on the boards as the Trojans posted a 74-66 victory over the Razorbacks on Tuesday.
TSU (4-1) hit 12 of 30 three-pointers and held off several Arkansas rallies to send the Razorbacks to their first 1-3 start since the 1973-74 season. Arkansas tried to go inside but TSU held its own on the boards with UA holding a slim 36-35 rebounding edge.
“We have some real soul-searching to do,” head coach Stan Heath said. “We worked against the zone in practice, but we didn’t do a good job of attacking the middle of the floor. We dug a big hole in the first half and our offense became stagnant.”
Troy State led by 10 at the half and by as much as 17 in the second half, 59-42 with 12:08 remaining, before UA came back.
