FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas sophomore Emily Tubert leads some of the nation’s best women’s golfers into action this weekend at the 2012 Southeastern Conference Women’s Golf Championship at Blessings Friday-Sunday.
Tubert, a Burbank, Calif., native, ranks third in the nation with a 72.00 stroke average in this week’s golfstat.com national rankings. Her third-place ranking is just behind SEC member Brooke Pancake of Alabama with a 71.83 stroke average.
In addition to Pancake and Tubert, three other SEC golfers rank inside the top 10 this week. They include Alabama’s Jennifer Kirby with a 72.13 average in seventh and Crimson Tide teammate Stephanie Meadow in eighth with 72.17. Georgia’s Emilie Burger is ninth in the country averaging 72.30 this week.
All 12 SEC members head to Fayetteville this week for the SEC Championship. Teams participate in a practice round Thursday followed by three days of competition. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
