TRINITY, Texas — University of Arkansas sophomore Emily Tubert helped Team USA to the overall lead after third round action at The Spirit International in Trinity, Texas, Friday. Cold temperatures delayed the morning’s start as the southern location was concerned about frost. Tubert and Team USA finished play Friday with a two-stroke lead heading into the final round. The United States’ women’s team is currently in third-place overall, shooting 69-71-66=206 in the four-day best-ball tournament. Tubert and teammate Austin Ernst (sophomore, LSU) played a field-best six-under Friday and moved up one spot from fourth. Tubert and Ernst are two strokes back of women’s team leader Argentina at 12-under and one-back of Korea in second place. They have a three-stroke lead over Colombia heading into the final round. Tubert had five birdies in her round Friday and has 11 in the first three rounds, ranking tied for second in that category. The USA men’s team is tied for fifth overall.
