KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Day two of the 2017 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday saw two Arkansas swimmers advance to individual finals inside the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.

Freshman Ayumi Macias led the way for the Razorbacks as she turned in an impressive seventh-place showing in the A final of the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:43.28. Macias earned her spot in the final after placing eighth (4:43.89) in morning prelims. Both swims were ‘B’ cut times.

Junior Chelsea Tatlow took seventh place in the C final of the 200 IM with her second ‘B’ cut time of the day at 1:59.76. Tatlow finished 22nd overall in the 200 IM prelims with a time of 1:59.62 to advance to the final. It marked the third-fastest time in the event by an Arkansas swimmer this season. Tatlow owns four ‘B’ cuts in the 200 IM this season after tallying two on Wednesday.

Also in the 200 IM, Jessie Garrison clocked a personal-best 2:00.88, claiming her second ‘B’ cut this season and the fourth fastest time by a Razorback.

In the 200 free relay, the team of Olivia Weekley, Kiera Michailoff-Russell, Erin Kelly and Natalie Burnett clocked the fastest time on the team in the event this season (1:32.56) for an 11th-place finish.

On the boards, Arkansas was unable to send a diver to the night’s 1m springboard final, but junior Nicole Gillis was able to notch another NCAA Zone score (300.40) with a 10th-place finish in prelims. It was her third zone qualifying score this week after claiming two in Tuesday’s 3m prelims and finals. It was her 11th zone qualifying score in the 1m this season and her sixth time scoring over 300.00 points.

In the 50 free, three Razorback swimmers clocked times that rank in Arkansas’ top five this season. Junior Olivia Weekley produced the third best time by an Arkansas swimmer this season at 23.36, sophomore Erin Kelly now sits fourth with a time of 23.30 and senior Natalie Burnett has the fifth fastest this season at 23.35.

In total, Arkansas recorded five ‘B’ cuts on the day, one zone qualifying score and four personal bests.
