Tyson Gay Clocks Personal Best in the 200M

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former Arkansas All-American Tyson Gay clocked a personal-best time in the 200 meters at the World Athletics Finals. Gay was recently named to the Team USA roster for the IAAF World Cup in Athletics.

Gay’s time of 19.68 came in the finals of the 200 meters at the World Athletics Finals. Gay clocked times of 19.70 in Lausanne, 19.79 in Brussels and 19.84 in London earlier in the professional season. His new time ranks third with Frank Fredericks on the all-time list behind Michael Johnson (19.32) and Xavier Carter (19.63).

Next up for Gay will be the running of the 100 meters at the IAAF World Cup in Athletics, in Athens, Greece, Sept. 16-17. Joining Gay in Athens will be former Razorback teammate Wallace Spearmon in the 200 meters. Spearmon also recorded a personal-best in the event with a time of 19.88 at the World Athletics Finals.
