U.S. Open Championships Conclude For Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Competition from New York at the 2017 U.S. Open Swimming Championships concludes for Arkansas swimmers as senior Jessie Garrison finishes 40th in the 200 IM in a time of 2:21.94.

Despite narrowly missing her long course personal best (2:21.48) that she set at the 2016 Olympic Trials, Garrison finishes the week notching two personal records in the 100 butterfly (1:02.42) and the 200 butterfly (2:14.98). The Little Rock native recorded the best finish of all three Arkansas swimmers during the Championships on Wednesday when she advanced to the B-final of the 200 fly, finishing fifth in her heat, 13th overall.

Juniors Madison Strathman and Sydney Angell were also in New York where they each competed in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Strathman two 34th-place finishes with times of 1:13.28 in the 100 breast and 2:37.80 in the 200 breast, while Angell touched 42nd in the 100 breast and 36th in the 200 breast.
