UA faces Austin Peay in non-conference matchup

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas soccer team continues its non-conference schedule with a Friday evening contest at Austin Peay. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Morgan Bros. Soccer Field on the Clarksville, Tenn., campus. This will be just the second meeting between the two programs with the Razorbacks holding the 1-0 advantage after last season’s victory.

During the 2007 season, Arkansas and Austin Peay met for the first time. The Razorbacks (4-1) got goals from Kathleen Paulsen and Kelly O’Connor to secure the 2-0 win at Razorback Field in Fayetteville. The team’s defense applied pressure throughout the contest only giving up four shots in the contest.

In their last outing, the Lady Govs dropped a 5-1 decision on the road to Evansville. Freshman midfielder Alanna Foster is the team leader with two goals and five points. Austin Peay (1-4) returns second-team all-conference performer Ashley Beck.

Offensively, the Razorbacks are led by sophomore Kelly O’Connor who has tallied seven points through the team’s first five games. The Bentonville, Ark., native was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling two goals and an assist last weekend at the 2008 adidas Gamecock Classic. Sophomore goalkeeper Britni Williams carries a 0.77 goals against average which includes three shutouts.

This will mark Arkansas’ final non-conference road trip before returning to Fayetteville next weekend for the Razorback Invitational. For more details and information, log on to ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
