FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas football team has three student-athletes on two College Football Performance Awards offensive watch lists, it was announced Tuesday.
Arkansas is one of just four teams in the country with two players on the watch list for the 2011 CFPA Wide Receiver Trophy, as Greg Childs and Jarius Wright are among the 39 receivers listed. Running back Knile Davis is one of 38 backs across the country on the watch list for the 2011 CFPA Running Back Trophy.
Last week, it was announced that three Razorbacks on the defensive side of the ball were on a CFPA watch list. Defensive end Jake Bequette is on the watch list for the 2011 CFPA Defensive Lineman Trophy, linebacker Jerry Franklin is up for the CFPA Linebacker Trophy and safety Tramain Thomas is on the watch list for the CFPA Defensive Back Trophy.
Arkansas also received special teams recognition from the CFPA. Kicker Zach Hocker made the watch list for the 2011 CFPA Placekicker Trophy, while punter Dylan Breeding is on the 2011 CFPA Punter Trophy watch list. Dennis Johnson and Joe Adams were recognized on the 2011 CFPA Kickoff Returner Trophy Watch List and the 2011 CFPA Punt Returner Trophy Watch List, respectively. The Razorbacks were the only team in the country to have one representative on each of the four watch lists.
The goal of the College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. Former Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett was the 2009 CFPA National Performer of the Year.
