UA softball celebrates Bogle Park beam signing

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team celebrated continued construction with a beam signing held at the construction site of the new stadium, Bogle Park, Monday in Fayetteville.

Marilyn Bogle represented the Bogle family who made the lead gift towards Bogle Park and who has also made significant contributions to both the University and the athletic department over the course of many years.

“It was nice for everybody to come out and take a look at how the facility is progressing,” said Executive Associate Athletic Director Bev Lewis. “It gives everyone a preview and a chance to see where everything goes and how it all fits together. The facility is going to do a lot to enhance the softball program.”

The beam signed at the celebration is one of the last beams placed in construction and will be located in the press box above the media room. The beam contains the signatures of the 2008 Arkansas softball team, coaches and staff, Bev Lewis and Marilyn Bogle.

Construction of the facility is handled by Nabholz Contruction’s Ozark division and would not be possible without the many donors and partners of the project.

Bogle Park replaces Lady’Back Yard and moves the Arkansas softball team into one of the elite facilities in America. The new stadium is located on the corner of Leroy Pond and California, just north of Lady’Back Field, Arkansas’ soccer facility. It has the same dimensions as current Lady’Back Yard – 200 feet down the foul lines and 220 feet in center field.

One of the most striking aspects of Bogle Park is the dramatic entrance on the concourse level. Upon entry, fans see the field and then descend down into the seating area which is home to 1,500 chairback seats. There is space for grilling and groups in the outfield area and six modern skyboxes overlook the field. For the first time, the Lady’Back softball team has its locker room at the venue along with an indoor practice and batting facility located on the home field side of the stadium. The press box is a state of the art media area.
