FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas Razorback soccer team will face off against the Nebraska Huskers on Sunday Sept. 8, in Fayetteville. The match will be broadcast on Cox Sports Television (CST) and is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. (CT), at Razorback Field.
“I really like our team,” head coach Colby Hale said.& ”We had a good week of training. Nothing bothers this group. Whatever comes up they just treat it likes it is no big deal. Assistant coach Ben Strawbridge is doing a great job with the backs. They are playing at such a high level.& Nebraska is one of the best attacking teams in the country and we know we will have our hands full, but I really like this group. Assistant coach Mario Rincon has done a fantastic job with our two keepers. Both of them play and act like veterans. And the group in front of them just puts in work. They work and goals can come from so many different players in so many different ways. We know who we are. Nebraska is a very good team and will present lots of different challenges but I love watching this group compete. Sunday should be fun.”
The match will feature the 5-0 Razorbacks and the 2-1-1 Huskers. The undefeated start for the Razorbacks is the best start to a campaign in program history. Arkansas has been sharp on both ends of the field, posting four shutouts while also scoring 10 goals, both of which are the best figures through five games since the 2009 campaign. The four shouts are tied for first in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
The Razorbacks are coming off of a 1-0 shutout of Tulsa last Wednesday, which capped a run of three games in six days. Nebraska recently played a match at Utah State that ended in a 2-2 tie after 110 minutes of play.
Arkansas’ hot start earned it the No. 2 spot in the NSCAA South Region rankings, while it also received 25 votes in the NSCAA national poll. The Razorbacks are one of three unbeaten teams in the SEC, but lead all 14 programs with five wins.
