FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s track and field team remains steady at No. 2 in the national rankings for the second-consecutive week, as announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday.
The No. 2 Razorbacks are just behind the top-ranked Gators of Florida and followed by Texas A&M in the No. 3 spot. Wisconsin is ranked No. 4 in the seventh week of the rankings, with Arizona rounding out the top five. Full rankings can be viewed here.
Following its second-straight SEC indoor championships, the Razorbacks earned several SEC and USTFCCCA awards. Chris Buckname was named SEC Coach of the Year, while Omar McLeod earned Freshman Runner of the Year. SEC event champions, Solomon Haile, Raymond Higgs and Anthony May were named First Team All-SEC, while Andrew Irwin, Ken LeGassey, Jarrion Lawson and McLeod were named Second Team All-SEC for their runner-up performances. McLeod, LeGassey and Trae Carey earned All-Freshman honors.
In addition, Bucknam was named USTFCCCA South Central Region Head Coach of the Year, while Travis Geopfert was named South Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
The No. 2 Razorbacks will chase their second-straight indoor national title at the NCAA Championships i this week. The Razorbacks have qualified ten individuals, along with two relays for a total of 13 scoring chances.
