Van Horn named to National All-Star Lineup

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas head baseball coach Dave Van Horn was named to the College Baseball Foundation’s week four National All-Star Lineup for his milestone victory over LSU last Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge, La.

Van Horn earned his 800th victory as a head coach in an improbable 14-13 win at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, La., when his team came back from a 9-0 deficit in the third inning to take a 10-inning decision. Arkansas pounded out 18 hits in the comeback and got great pitching from junior reliever Justin Wells to take the second game of the LSU series.

Arkansas’ skipper has been with the Razorbacks since the 2003 season and prior to his return to his alma mater, he made five head coaching stops beginning with Texarkana Community College in 1989. His 20-plus seasons as a head coach have seen him make stops at Texarkana, Central Missouri State, Northwestern State, Nebraska and Arkansas. He has a career 801-359 record during that time for a staggering .691 winning percentage.

The College Baseball Foundation honors players each week for their play and contributions to college baseball. Van Horn is the second Razorback to be recognized this year as senior first baseman/designated hitter Aaron Murphree was tabbed in week two after his monster week that saw him named national player of the week.

The Razorbacks are back on the diamond on Friday night at 6:00 p.m., when they face the ninth-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores at Hawkins Field in Nashville, Tenn. For more information regarding Razorback baseball or University of Arkansas athletics please visit www.hogwired.com.
