FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In recognition of her standout showing during the Razorbacks’ past three matches, senior outside hitter Pilar Victoria has been named the SEC Player of the Week as announced Tuesday morning by the league office. She averaged 6.73 kills per set and registered a .381 hitting percentage on her way to earning all-tournament accolades at the K-State Invitational.

The latest selection is the second SEC Player of the Week of Victoria’s career, having previously been honored during the 2015 season. During the K-State Invitational, Victoria put down at least 19 kills in each match including a 34-kill performance in a five-set win at Kansas State which marked the program’s first-ever win in Manhattan. Posted with a .382 hitting percentage, the 34 kills are the most by an SEC player this season and are just one shy of her career high. She added 14 digs to complete her second double-double effort of the year.

Victoria followed with 21 kills at a .386 clip against No. 6 Wisconsin. In the weekend finale, she tallied 19 kills and eight digs in a straight-set win over Syracuse. She also tied her career high with three aces against the Orange. With her seventh kill against Kansas State, Victoria tallied the 600th kill of her Arkansas career.

The Caguas, Puerto Rico, native leads the SEC with 6.76 kills per set and 7.25 points per set, and ranks fifth in the league with a .393 hitting percentage through the first two weekends of the season. The redshirt senior has registered at least 19 kills in all six matches entering Tuesday’s meeting with Oral Roberts. As a six-rotation player, Victoria is also averaging 2.62 digs per set this season.

Victoria becomes the second Razorback to earn league honors in as many weeks. Sophomore Rachel Rippee was the SEC Setter of the Week following the opening weekend of the season. Overall, Arkansas now has 25 SEC Player of the Week selections in program history, and Victoria is the eighth Razorback to earn multiple honors during her career.
