Victoria, Wohlschlaeger Earn SEC Weekly Honors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After a week featuring two conference road wins, the University of Arkansas volleyball team has collected a pair of SEC weekly honors as released Monday morning by the league office. Junior outside hitter Pilar Victoria is the SEC Offensive Player of the week while junior Adrien Wohlschlaeger has garnered SEC Setter of the Week honors. Victoria is also the SEC Player of the Week and now eligible for AVCA national accolades which will be announced later this week.

Arkansas is riding a four-match win streak and is now 12-2 overall with a 2-0 mark in conference play. The Razorbacks’ SEC home opener is Sunday, Oct. 4, against Florida. First serve of the conference matchup is scheduled for 3 p.m. (CT) at Barnhill Arena. Arkansas is in the midst of a stretch with seven-straight matches against teams that played in last year’s NCAA Tournament. The team has responded with a 4-1 record through the first five matches of that stretch.

Victoria became just the 12th player in the NCAA this season—and only one to do so this week—with 30 kills in Arkansas’ five-set win over LSU to open the SEC season. She recorded the SEC-high 30 kills in front of a national television audience on ESPNU and completed her team-leading seventh double-double with a career-high 19 digs. She finished the match with 32.0 points, the sole 30-point performance in the SEC this year. Victoria is the seventh player in program history to have 30 kills in a match, and the first to do so in SEC play since 2007.

The Caguas, Puerto Rico, native capped the weekend with 20 kills, nine digs and three total blocks in the Razorbacks’ four-set win at Texas A&M. The effort marked her fifth 20-kill showing of the season. For the week, Victoria averaged 5.56 kills per set, 3.11 digs per set and 6.11 points per set. With her offensive outbursts this week, she increased her season averages to 4.50 kills per set and 5.04 points per set.

Wohlschlaeger opened SEC play with career highs of 65 assists and 14 digs to post her first career double-double effort in Arkansas’ five-set road win at LSU. Her 65 assists are the most by an SEC setter in conference play this season, and the third-highest total overall. Wohlschlaeger closed out the weekend with 49 assists in the Razorbacks’ 3-1 win at Texas A&M. For the week, she set the offense to a .272 hitting percentage which is the top mark for a team in SEC-only matches.

The Conroe, Texas, native averaged 12.67 assists per set, 2.33 digs per set and 0.89 blocks per set this week to help the Razorbacks open with a 2-0 record in the SEC for the third-consecutive season. Overall, Wohlschlaeger is now averaging 11.37 assists per set and is now 10-1 as Arkansas’ starting setter this season. Wohlschlaeger was previously recognized by the SEC office on Sept. 14 for her showing during the Razorback Invitational.
