Volleyball hosts final spring event

Jump to schedule FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas volleyball team hosts its final spring tournament Saturday in Barnhill Arena. The five-team tournament begins at 9:00 a.m., and admission is free. The Lady Razorbacks welcome Missouri State (formerly Southwest Missouri State), Memphis, Kansas State and the Arkansas Alumni for a 10- match spring tournament. The first match pairs Memphis and Kansas State at 9:00 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. match between Memphis and the Lady Razorbacks. Missouri State faces Kansas State at 11:00 a.m., and Arkansas takes on its Alumni on court two. Memphis will play the Arkansas Alumni immediately after around 11:30 a.m. Play resumes at 12:45 p.m., after a short lunch break. The afternoon matches feature Kansas State versus Arkansas at12:45 p.m., Missouri State versus Memphis at 1:45 p.m. Kansas State versus Arkansas Alumni at 2:15 p.m., Missouri State versus Arkansas at 2:45 p.m., and Missouri State versus either Arkansas or the Arkansas Alumni at 4:00 p.m. The Lady Razorbacks return eight players form last year’s NCAA Tournament team. A pair of seniors in middle Karla Crose and setter Iva Docekalova lead the team along with all-Southeastern Conference juniors Denitza Koleva and Kele Brewer. Incoming sophomores Jessica Dorrell and Ashley Miller were all-SEC selections as freshman last year with sophomore Kelli Cole and junior Amy Allison also returning. The Lady Razorbacks have also added the services of hitter Christina Lawrence who redshirted last season and welcome newcomer setter Nicole Martin who transferred to Arkansas.
