Walker Leads Hogs to Overtime Win

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark — Senior Chris Walker hit seven of eight shots from the field including four of four from the beyond the three-point arc to lead Arkansas to a 102-95 overtime win over the Texas-Arlington Mavericks at Bud Walton Arena on Monday night.
Arkansas (1-0) trailed Texas-Arlington (0-2) by as many as six points down the stretch before Walker tied the score at 90-90 with a driving lay-up with just under a minute on the clock. Texas-Arlington (0-2) had trailed in the second half by as many as 13 points before taking the lead with four minutes to play in regulation.
Sophomore T.J. Cleveland scored back-to-back baskets to give Arkansas a six-point lead early in the extra period, but the Mavericks scaled the lead back down to three. Brandon Dean and Charles Tatum iced the game however hitting four free throws to give the Hogs the victory.
Cleveland scored 19 points and earned six rebounds while Dean collected 18 points and three rebounds. UTA’s Keith Greene and Jabari Johnson each scored 20 points to lead the Mavericks.
Arkansas has won 26 of its last 27 season opening games and the Razorbacks pushed their non-conference record to 48-3 at Bud Walton Arena.
