Walker and Schmidt Lead Razorbacks to 6-0 Win over Creighton

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Nick Schimdt pitched seven innings of scoreless two-hit ball and catcher Brian Walker hit two home runs as Arkansas eliminated Creighton from the Fayetteville NCAA Regional with a 6-0 victory Sunday afternoon.

The Razorbacks (43-20) advanced to face Oklahoma State in the night game. If OSU wins, the Cowboys advance to the Super Regional. If Arkansas wins, the Razorbacks force a 7:37 p.m. (central) game on Monday.

Against Creighton (45-16), Schmidt (11-3) and Travis Hill combined on a four-hitter.

Walker was four-of-four with two home runs, his 10th and 11th of the season, two RBI and four runs scored for the Hogs. Walker also singled and doubled.

The Blue Jays’ Ben Mancuso (10-3) gave up two runs in six innings, but took the loss. Pat Venditte allowed two runs in two-thirds of an inning, including a Walker homer, and Andy Masten gave up two runs in two-and-a-third innings.

For Arkansas, Logan Forsythe was two-of-five with an RBI while Sean Jones was one-for-three with two runs knocked in.
