Walters on SEC Community Service Team

LEXINGTON, Ky.- Sophomore Matt Walters has proven to be a major contributor to the Arkansas men’s tennis program on and off the courts. The league announced Wednesday, that Walters was named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team. This is Walters first SEC honor for his outstanding leadership and efforts to strengthen the community.
Walters has shown his generosity through his involvement in countless organizations, including a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has participated every Christmas holiday with the Shop with a Razorback SAAC team at Toys-R-US. He also was part of the Book Hogs and Sweat Hawgs programs and helped at the David Johnson II Memorial Kids Day tennis clinic. Walters also served as a volunteer at the SEC Together We Can program collecting cans and loading trucks. He has extended himself to every opportunity possible including numerous hours to help clean up the after math from the 2009 ice storm.
The SEC sponsors Community Team in all 20-league sports. The Community Service team looks to highlight student-athletes from the SEC who actively give back to their community in superior efforts.
In March, Walters joined Taylor King and Matthew Hogan to pay a visit to some special children at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The trio-spent time playing games and interacting with young patients. Walters service is ongoing as he and the entire Arkansas Razorbacks men’s tennis team will participate at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Saturday morning.
