Walters triumphs at Rebel Classic

FAYETTEVILLE
–Standout Arkansas Razorback Matt Walters won the consolation finals on Sunday at the 2009 Rebel Classic held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas, Nev. The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team returns home after a very successful weekend with a 7-6 tournament record.
“I am pleased with way all of the guys competed this weekend,” Head coach Robert Cox said. “It was a great tournament to get experience, and we are coming away from this tournament with more knowledge of ourselves and what we can improve on.”
Walters earned a spot in the consolation finals with a win over Attila Toth of UNLV, 6-3, 6-2, to face Cal Poly’s Jordan Bridge in the final round of the consolation flight. Walters dominated the courts and overpowered Bridges winning the match, 6-4, 6-1.
“Matt played great,” Cox Said. “It was a great way to finish the tournament.”
