Wayne Harris Named as Honorary Captain for Ark

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas is proud to announce former Razorback linebacker Wayne Harris as the honorary captain for the Arkansas-Georgia football game on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004.
The University of Arkansas Men’s Athletic Department will present an honorary captain for each Fayetteville home game this season. Each honorary captain will be honored prior to the game on the field, recognized on the SmartVision and will accompany the Razorback captains to midfield for the coin toss. The honorary captain will also appear at the Fuji Film Legends Tent in the SBC Trough approximately 90 minutes before game time.
Harris lettered from 1958-60 for the Razorbacks claiming All-America honors during the 1959 and 1960 campaigns. He was the team captain in 1960 recording the most tackles in a season with 174 tackles in leading the Hogs to an 8-3 record and a Southwest Conference Title.
Nicknamed The Thumper, Wayne Harris was also named to the All-Decade team for the 1960s.
In addition to the Honorary Captain honor, Harris will be recognized on the field for his College Football Hall of Fame Induction during pre-game of the Arkansas-Georgia game.
