Wednesday practice report

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Razorback football team returned to the practice field Wednesday afternoon for a workout inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Following practice, defensive coordinator Willy Robinson spoke with the media.

On Wednesday’s practice:

"Practice was good today. We ran around with a lot of energy."

On choosing starters based on performance during practice:

"That’s how we are going to do it from now on. I think, last week, they didn’t take the message serious enough in the first practice. I think it meant a lot to some of the guys who had been starting and didn’t start Saturday. It was very noticeable in yesterday’s practice. Guys were flying around and there were a lot more hats on the ball. It stands out quite a bit."

On younger players getting more game time Saturday:

"We picked our timing carefully. We didn’t make a mass substitution. We made little substitutions but you still had veteran guys out there with them. I think Saturday was a good experience for Darius Winston. Even though it wasn’t what he wanted, I think he understands the importance of that position at this level. It was a great experience for Austin Moss and Terrell Williams. It was a good experience for Caleb Evans who hadn’t been on the field much. Caleb did a nice job for us on third downs. If games allow us to, we will continue to play our younger guys. It will be based on effort each day, on how they practice."

On South Carolina’s offense:

"They have some really outstanding wide outs. They are big, tall athletes that can run and jump. Their quarterback is pretty savvy. They have really good running backs. Behind that big, tall offensive line, they are hard to see. They are going to mix it up and put some exotic formations out there that we are going to have to adjust to quickly. Their big, young receivers are the guys that stand out the most."

On Ramon Broadway’s status:

"He’s doing well. He’s coming along slowly. He’s not in the football shape he once was because of a lack of reps but his rehab is coming along really well. It will probably be a game-time decision to see if he’s plays but he’s working in there."
