FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas volleyball team closes out its home weekend Sunday afternoon against No. 23 Tennessee at Barnhill Arena. The Southeastern Conference matchup is set for a 1 p.m. (CT) start and will be televised by SportSouth. The match is scheduled to be broadcast by Fox Sports Southwest, channel 27 in Northwest Arkansas.
The Razorbacks enter Sunday’s match with a 10-5 overall record and a 2-2 mark in conference play. In its last outing, Arkansas dropped a four-set decision to Kentucky Friday at Barnhill Arena. Kelli Stipanovich registered a team-high 16 kills and Janeliss Torres-Lopez added 10 kills out of the middle. Raymariely Santos posted a double-double with 38 assists and team-high 13 digs. Defensively, Roslandy Acosta led the team’s efforts at the net with six total blocks.
Sunday’s match will mark the first of three television matches for the Razorbacks. All three of those matches will be played at Barnhill Arena. Pete Pranica and Phil Bush will handle the commentary duties for the Arkansas-Tennessee meeting. Tennessee will be the third nationally ranked opponent for Arkansas this season.
The all-time series between Arkansas and Tennessee is tied, 14-14. In the last meeting between the two teams in Fayetteville, the Razorbacks held two match points before Tennessee came away with a five-set victory. Tennessee carries a 12-2 overall record and a 5-0 tally in SEC play. The Lady Vols enter the match off a four-set victory over LSU Friday in Baton Rouge, La. On the season, Kelsey Robison leads Tennessee and conference with 4.79 kills per set.
