FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas volleyball team will host Kentucky Sunday afternoon in the weekend finale for both teams. First serve of the Southeastern Conference matchup is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Barnhill Arena. Promotions and giveaways for fans in attendance include the 2010 player trading cards.
In its last outing, Arkansas (9-9, 3-4 SEC) lost to No. 22 Tennessee in five sets. Jasmine Norton and Kelli Stipanovich paced the team with 19 and 16 kills, respectively. Amanda Anderson, Hayley Koop and Janeliss Torres-Lopez all had eight kills while Cassie Clarke notched a double-double performance with a season-high 53 assists and 11 digs.
The all-time series between Arkansas and Kentucky is tied, 13-13, with the Wildcats picking up the win in the last two meetings. Last season, UK posted a straight-set win in Lexington and completed the season sweep with a four-set victory at Barnhill Arena. Between 1997 and 2004, the Razorbacks won 11 consecutive matches against UK.
Kentucky (8-9, 2-5 SEC) dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 15 LSU in its last match. Lauren Rapp led the team with 16 kills and added 10 digs while Whitney Billings had six kills and a match-high 17 digs in the loss. Rapp carries a .439 hitting percentage in conference matches, the top mark in the SEC.
Following their meeting with Kentucky, the Razorbacks will travel to Baton Rouge to take on LSU Wednesday in a midweek match. The Western Division battle will be televised by ESPNU with the match set for an 8 p.m. (CT) start.
