Weems Beverley Double-Doubles Lead Hogs Past Ole Miss

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Patrick Beverley and Sonny Weems each recorded double-doubles as Arkansas ran its Southeastern Conference winning streak to four with Saturday’s 75-69 home win over Ole Miss.

Beverley, one of just four players averaging a double-double in SEC play, had 17 points and 13 rebounds, and was in double-digits rebounding for the sixth time in the last seven games. Weems had 22 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

The Razorbacks (17-5, 6-2) jumped out to a 16-5 lead and led 34-29 at the half, but Ole Miss tied the game at 36-36 on a Kenny Williams dunk with 17:35 remaining. Arkansas pushed the margin to 57-45 on a Steven Hill layup with 9:15 to go, capping a 21-9 run which included seven points from Darian Townes and five from Weems.

The Rebels (16-5, 3-5) got within 59-53 and 61-55, but Arkansas pushed the lead to 68-56 on a Weems tip-in with 2:41 left.

Chris Warren, who scored a game-high 26 points, hit a three to pull Ole Miss within 70-67 with 51 seconds to go, but Weems made a layup with 20 seconds left and Beverley put the game away with two free throws with 11 seconds remaining.

Townes finished with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting and added five rebounds. Gary Ervin had eight points and three assists, and Michael Washington six points and four rebounds.

Dwayne Curtis had 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Rebels.

Arkansas plays at Tennessee on Wednesday in a 7:05 p.m. (central) game televised by Raycom Sports.
