Thank you for your interest in Arkansas gymnastics. We have accomplished so much in just two short seasons but there is still so much more left to do. The Gym’Backs began the program with 11 freshman and jumped into action in the Southeastern Conference – arguably the toughest conference in the nation – in 2002. The team finished the year with five wins and was ranked fourth in the nation in attendance. In addition, the Gym’Backs were successful in the classroom finishing 14th in the nation with a 3.43 grade point average. Arkansas continued to improve last season with 11 wins and the team was ranked 20th in the nation. The Gym’Backs also continued to draw support again finishing fourth in the nation in attendance. New for team last year was the first-ever all-Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week (Dana McQuillin) and the first all-SEC athlete (Melissa Leigh on bars). The Gym’Backs also made their first trip to the NCAA Regional Championships finishing fourth in an exciting meet in Arizona. Classroom success also followed the team into its second season as they improved to 10th in the country with a 3.48 GPA. Nine Gym’Backs earned National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches for Women Academic All-America honors. They are Jamie Burnett, Valerie Conroy, Kim Harris, Brooke Lawrence, Melissa Leigh, Audra Loveless, Hannah McLeod, Dana McQuillin and Kathy Thompson.
