Welsh Ford at local elementary

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas basketball players Stefan Welsh and Charity Ford were two of several Razorback student-athletes that traveled to Washington Elementary School in Fayetteville to assist in a physical education class on Tuesday morning.

With their Elementary Physical Education classmates watching, which included members of the Razorback football, men’s basketball and baseball teams, Welsh and Ford assisted Washington Elementary gym teacher Kevin Thomas for the duration of his class period as they worked on the fundamentals of throwing with fourth-grade students.

After breaking into pairs to work on throwing technique, the class then went into a full game which reinforced the throwing exercises that were worked on in the beginning of the class. Welsh and Ford along with more than 20 students broke into two teams and threw balls at bowling pins as they worked on accuracy and strategy.

The Razorback basketball teams now prepare for their annual Red-White games on Friday, Oct. 23. Doors for the event open at 5:30 p.m. and action begins with an autograph session for both men’s and women’s teams.
