Werner Repeats As Top SEC Freshman
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Arkansas freshman Taylor Werner has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman Runner of the Week for her outstanding effort at last weekend’s Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Through three races in her freshman campaign as a Razorback, Werner has now been the recipient of the conference award twice.
Taking on the first 6K of her collegiate career, Werner embraced the new challenge, navigating the difficult LaVern Gibson cross country course as well as the veteran runners.
She was the second Razorback to complete the course, placing inside the top-30 with a new PR of 20 minutes, 44.40 seconds – the fourth-best freshman in the field.
Werner will return to action for Arkansas on her home course at the 2016 SEC Cross Country Championship on Friday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. CT.
Admission to the conference meet at Agri Park is free to fans of all ages.
