WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – The West Memphis Razorback Club got their chance to meet new Arkansas head men’s basketball coach Mike Anderson on Thursday night when he traveled to the area for the organization’s spring club meeting.
More than 250 tickets were sold for the event and those in attendance were treated to not just Anderson, but members of his staff including Associate Head Coach Melvin Watkins, Assistant Coach T.J. Cleveland and Director of Student-Athlete Development Scotty Thurman. Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long was also on hand for the festivities as were former Hog greats Todd Day, Dwight Stewart and Arlyn Bowers.
Upon his arrival at the meeting, the crowd was already abuzz and even before Anderson could sit down he was being greeted by fans who recalled his days as an assistant coach. One club member in particular talked about how excited she was that Anderson had returned to lead the Razorbacks for the upcoming 2011-12 season.
Anderson’s next Razorback Club stop is in Dallas, Texas, on Monday, May 2. Also on the agenda are trips to Paragould, Hot Springs, Forest City and Fort Smith.
