Whitney Jones named to service team

FAYETTEVILLE – Sophomore Whitney Jones, a member of the Arkansas Razorback women’s track and field team, has been named to the 2010 SEC Track and Field Community Service Team, it was announced Tuesday.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight a student-athlete from each school who gives back to his community in superior service efforts.

Jones, a native of Searcy, Ark., is a sprinter, jumper and relay member for the women’s squad. She will compete in the 200 meters, relays and long jump at this weekend’s SEC Outdoor Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., May 13-16.

A 2009-10 member of Arkansas’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Jones participated in the Sweat Hawgs Program (physical education in schools), Lift up America (food drive), Christmas Shopping with the Razorbacks and the Book Hogs Read To Win Program.
