Women?s cross ranked 11th in first poll

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The first U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has Arkansas Razorback women’s cross country ranked No. 11 in its first poll of the 2008 season, it was announced by the association earlier in the week.

The highest-ranked Southeastern Conference team this week, Arkansas leads Florida sitting at 15th and Tennessee, Georgia and Vanderbilt are receiving votes.

Also released earlier this week were the USTFCCCA regional rankings. The Arkansas harriers are seated at No. 1 in the South Central region. Again the top-ranked SEC team, LSU is the only other conference foe listed in the South Central region. The Tigers sit at No. 13.

The Razorbacks opened the season with a meet win at the Arkansas Dual. They followed that up with another meet win at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic. Catherine White was the individual race winner at both events. She has twice earned SEC Athlete of the Week honors for her winning performances.

Arkansas women’s cross country will compete next at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, hosted by the University of Oregon, October 4 in Springfield, Ore. For more information, visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
