Women's Tennis Remains Among Top 20

TEMPE, Ariz. – After opening Southeastern Conference play with a win against Missouri, the Arkansas women’s tennis team checked in at No. 18 in the latest edition of the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis National Team Rankings released Tuesday.

It’s the second straight week Arkansas has been featured inside the top 20. Winners of seven straight, the Razorbacks (10-2, 1-0 SEC) will welcome LSU to Fayetteville on Friday for a 6 p.m. match before they host No. 17 Texas A&M on Sunday at 1 p.m. in a top-20 showdown.

The SEC leads the nation with 10 teams ranked among the top 25. Joining Arkansas in the top 25 are No. 1 Florida, No. 4 Auburn, No. 5 Vanderbilt, No. 13 Georgia, No. 16 Tennessee, No. 17 Texas A&M, No. 20 Kentucky, No. 23 Ole Miss and No. 24 South Carolina.

Senior co-captain Shannon Hudson and sophomore Ana Oparenovic each earned spots in the singles rankings. Hudson landed at No. 64, while Oparenovic came in at No. 118.

Hudson picked up her fourth straight victory and pushed her dual-match record to 8-2 when she posted a three-set win to clinch the 4-3 team victory for the Razorbacks over Missouri at home on Friday. Oparenovic is 4-2 in dual matches this season.
