FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team continues its series of opponent previews as it counts down to tipoff of the 2013-14 season. Next up on the nonconference schedule for the Razorbacks is the Furman Paladins.

Date: Nov. 16,&1 p.m.
Location: Bud Walton Arena, Fayetteville
Series results: This marks just the second meeting between Furman and Arkansas. The last contest between the two programs took place during the 2010-11 season, as the Razorbacks earned an 88-47&win. Head Coach Tom Collen is 3-0 all-time versus Furman in his coaching career.
Last season: Furman finished 12-18 overall last season, going 8-12 in Southern Conference play. The Paladins carried the No. 7 seed into the Southeastern Conference Tournament, but were quickly outed in the first round with a 73-68 loss to UNCG.
Foe to Know: Brittany Hodges,&6-1 Forward, Junior. The Paladins’ top returning scorer (9.8 ppg), Hodges started in 25 of the team’s 29 games last season as a sophomore. Hodges led the Paladins on the boards, pulling in 180 rebounds, including 68 offensive.&Avoiding foul trouble will be an area for improvement this season, considering Hodges committed a team-leading 102 personal fouls and fouled out&in six games last season.&Hodges was&named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year two seasons ago.
Freshman Phenom: Furman forward Holli Wilkins enters the 2013-14 season as the reigning Southern Conference Freshman of the Year, after the 5-foot-11 athlete out of Atlanta started in 25 of 29 games and averaged 6.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.&Wilkins also earned a place on the conference’s All-Freshman Team. Basketball runs in the family bloodline for Wilkins, who is the daughter of former NBA standout Gerald Wilkins and the niece of NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins.
