FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team begins a series of opponent previews as it counts down to tipoff of the 2013-14 season. First up on the nonconference schedule for the Razorbacks this season&is the Missouri Southern Lions.
Opponent: Missouri Southern State&Lions
Date: November 3, 2 p.m.
Location: Bud Walton Arena, Fayetteville
Series results: This marks the first meeting between Missouri Southern State&and Arkansas under head coach Tom Collen.
Last season: Missouri Southern State&finished 14-13 overall and eighth place in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) conference after going 8-10 in league play. The Lions went 4-6 on the road last season.
Foe to Know: Dominique Mosley, 6-1 Forward, Senior. The Tigers’ top returning scorer from last season (9.2 ppg), Mosley also led Missouri Southern State&in field-goal percentage (.497) last season.
Dawn of a new era: Missouri Southern State University women’s basketball begins a period of transition this season, after its all-time winningest coach in program history, Maryann Mitts, announced her retirement last season. Mitts compiled a 189-145 (.566) record and retired with an overall record of 272-201 (.577). Associate Head Coach Ronda Hubbard will serve as interim head coach for the 2013-14 season.
