FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team continues its series of opponent previews as it counts down to tipoff of the 2013-14 season. Next up on the nonconference schedule for the Razorbacks is the Missouri State Lady Bears.

Series Results: Arkansas holds a 19-6 all-time record over Missouri State, including a 10-3 record in Fayetteville. The two programs first faced during the 1977 season. The most recent meeting between the two programs took place in 2011 when the Razorbacks edged out a 65-64 win over the Lady Bears in the second round of the WNIT in Springfield, Mo.
Last Season:&Missouri State&finished&14-17 overall last season, going&6-12 and finishing eighth in the&Missouri Valley Conference standings. The No. 8 seed in last season’s MVC tournament, the Lady Bears&were upset by ninth-seeded Drake and eliminated with an 81-66 loss. MSU was 3-10 in road games last season.
Foe to Know: Kenzie Williams, 5-10, Guard, Redshirt Sophomore. Williams returns after starting in&31 games last season as a freshman. The Mt. Vernon, Mo., native&returns as the&leading scorer (11.3 ppg)&for the Lady Bears and&showcased her perimeter shooting last season&after leading&the team in 3-point field goal attempts (43-136, .316). She also led the team in assists last season (88) and steals (58).
Hitting the Boards: Returning nine letterwinners from last season and three starters, Missouri State looks to attack the glass and rebound with similar efficiency to its 2012-13 campaign. The Lady Bears ended last season with school records for offensive rebounds (541), offensive rebounding average (17.45) and total rebound average (44.26). MSU’s rebounding average also rated as the highest in the MVC since 1987, and its 1,372 total boards rank as the No. 6 total in league history.
