Women's tennis announces 2010 spring schedule

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s tennis, which announced their spring schedule today, faces another tough dual match season in 2010.The team opens the spring schedule at home with dual matches with St. Louis and Oklahoma State on Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.

The Razorbacks will host ITA Kick-Off Weekend Jan. 29-30 playing Washington in the opening match on Jan. 29 at 3 p.m. Arkansas will face either Michigan or South Carolina on Jan. 30.

Head coach Michael Hegarty and the Razorbacks will host two more matches, Utah on Feb. 5 and Louisiana-Lafayette on Feb. 6 before taking to the road for the first time in the spring, traveling to Tulsa on Feb. 13.

On the road again on Feb. 20, the Razorbacks will play Rice before heading to TCU for a dual match on Feb. 21.

Returning home at the end of February, Arkansas welcomes Memphis to the George M. Billingsley Tennis Center and Dills Indoor Stadium on Feb. 26 before Oklahoma comes to Fayetteville on Feb. 28.

Kicking off the Southeastern Conference schedule, the Razorbacks travel south to visit the Florida Gators on March 5 for the teams’ first meeting since Arkansas posted its first-ever win over the Gators last spring.

The squad will drop by Columbia, S.C. for a March 7 dual at South Carolina before returning home on March 12 to play Ole Miss at noon.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs come to Fayetteville on March 14 and the Razorbacks take a break from SEC action on March 17 to take on Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.

Back in Fayetteville on March 26, Arkansas plays Georgia before heading to Knoxville, Tenn. to take on the Lady Vols on March 28.

April begins at home for the Razorbacks with Auburn on April 2 and Alabama is in town on April 4 as the Razorbacks close out the home season.

Arkansas’ season ends on the road with trips to Vanderbilt on April 9, Kentucky on April 17 and LSU on April 19.

Postseason begins with the SEC Championships in Athens, Ga. April 22-25 and the team hopes to make another NCAA Tournament run May 7-23, also in Athens, Ga.
