Women's track takes 10 to NCAAs

FAYETTEVILLE – No. 9 Arkansas Razorback women’s track and field will conclude the 2010 collegiate season with the NCAA Championships, hosted by the University of Oregon, Wed.-Sat., June 9-12, at Hayward Field, in Eugene, Ore.

In the current USTFCCCA rankings, the Razorbacks are listed at No. 9. Arkansas is one of five SEC schools in the top 25. LSU is No. 3, Florida is No. 7, Auburn is No. 11 and Tennessee is No. 20.

The Razorbacks will be represented by 10 student-athletes in seven events at the NCAA Championships. Junior Shelise Williams and freshman Regina George will run the 400 meters and freshman Stephanie Brown will run the 800 meters. Sophomore Brittany Hyter will run the 100- and 400-meter hurdles. Sophomore Whitney Jones, Williams, senior Karen Thomas and George will comprise the 4×400-meter relay.

In the field events, seniors Katie Stripling and Janice Keppler and sophomore Tina Sutej will pole vault. Junior Shantel Thompson will compete in the triple jump.

Stripling is making her fourth appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and her seventh career appearance at an NCAA event. Keppler is making her second appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in an Arkansas uniform. Sutej is making her first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and her third career appearance at an NCAA event. Williams is making her third appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and her sixth career appearance at an NCAA event.
