FAYETTEVILLE -- For her work off the tennis court and in the community, Shannon Hudson was named to the 2014 SEC Women's Tennis Community Service Team in an announcement from the league office on Monday.

The freshman from Virginia Beach, Va., has been one of the most active members on the team this season in giving her time back to the community. Hudson goes to local elementary schools and participates in physical activities for "Sweat Hogs," reads to elementary students as part of "Book Hogs," participated in MLK Kids Day, and was an active volunteer at both the local animal shelter and the Co-Operative Emergency Outreach (CEO) Food Pantry.

Her second league honor this season, Hudson was also named SEC Freshman of the Week on Jan. 22 after posting a 3-0 weekend individually and helping the Razorbacks to a doubleheader sweep of Wichita State.

The true freshman finished the regular season on an eight-game winning streak and holds a team-leading 13 wins in singles this season. She is 3-0 at No. 1 singles and has competed in all other matches exclusively at No. 2 singles where she holds a 10-5 record.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams in all 21 sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight student-athletes from the SEC who give back to their community in superior service efforts.
